Why Self Help Books Don’t Work
Self help books can be a trap. And I say this as someone who’s read hundreds of them and talks about them a lot.
We’re often drawn to self help because we want to solve a problem. But then we use self help as escape, we don’t end up addressing it. We keep reading instead of taking action…
When we don’t get quick results, we assume it’s because the answer is in the next book, we haven’t found the right cure yet, we need to try a new drug so to speak
We often know the answer we’re looking for, we have some idea of what we want to do, but we’re hoping there’s an easier solution out there. It’s easier to look for a simpler answer than to do the hard work.
